Art
To support our whole school curriculum intent in Art and Design, we aim to provide children with a high quality, inclusive art curriculum which develops creativity, sets challenges, engages and inspires children and equips them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design. This approach intends to foster the children’s resilience and commitment. In addition, our carefully planned progression of art skills enables the children to build on prior knowledge and experiences and develop their self confidence and independence.
Our Art Curriculum aims to ignite creativity and instil artistic confidence in our pupils. Many of our art units require our pupils to use reference material which can be drawn from the works of famous artists, craftspeople and designers from the past and present and a variety of cultures. Through experiencing and exploring such works and having contextual discussions, our pupils begin to develop tolerance and understanding of different cultures and lifestyles.
At Charles Saer Community Primary School, we use a selection of adapted lessons from ‘Kapow Primary’ and have added bespoke units to enrich our pupil’s experiences.
